Chocolate Protein Ice Cream Drops

Are you getting enough protein? Through research for my own health journey, I have come to discover that, though I eat a healthy diet, I was severely lacking in my protein intake. Chocolate protein ice cream drops are my go-to for helping with that.

We eat homegrown meat and vegetables, buying very little from the grocery store, and thought that is all that is needed. However, I find it hard to eat a large steak in a meal, so when I worked out how much protein I was actually getting and it isn’t enough.

Then I thought about kids and how they snack on breads and goodies, even homemade, vegetables and dip, but they still are not getting enough protein for their needs. They are growing so fast and their bodies really need all the building blocks.

Most Folks Arenโ€™t Getting Enough Protein โ€” But Thatโ€™s Easy to Fix

You might be surprised to learn that a third of adults donโ€™t get enough protein every day.
And when you look at how much we actually need to stay strong and healthy, it makes sense.

If youโ€™re trying to build muscle, lose extra weight, keep your immune system going strong, or just have steady energy all day, you will want to aim for around .75 grams of protein per pound you weigh.

So, for someone who weighs 150 pounds, thatโ€™s about 115 grams of protein daily. Yepโ€”every day.

To put that into perspective: one egg has just 6 grams of protein. Youโ€™d need to eat almost 20 eggs a day to hit that goal. That is a lot of omelets.

And as we get older? We actually need even more proteinโ€”sometimes up to 50% moreโ€”to help preserve muscle, stay resilient through illness, and maintain our quality of life.

It is clear: protein plays a big role in how we feel and function. But how do you get that much without spending a small fortune or living in the kitchen?

I have found something to solve this problem: Prime Protein. It is so easy to incorporate in any recipe, like my chocolate chocolate chip zucchini muffins. There is also an unflavored prime protein powder which would work in just about any recipe.

It is a clean, simple beef protein powder made with just a handful of real food ingredients. One scoop gives you 21 grams of proteinโ€”no fillers, no junk, no hard-to-pronounce additives. Itโ€™s easy on the stomach, smooth to blend, and affordable enough to make part of your everyday routine.

Whether you’re out in the garden, raising littles, or just want to feel your bestโ€”this is an easy way to get the fuel your body truly needs.

Chocolate Protein Ice Cream Drops

To make it easy, and since everyone LOVES ice cream, I went to work incorporating more protein in our diets with this tasty treat. This snack is something that I cannot keep in the house and I’m luck if it even makes it into the freezer!

mixing cream cheese and heavy whipping cream in a bowl

Start by blending softened cream cheese and heavy whipping cream in a bowl until it is smooth. Then add the protein powder and maple syrup, carefully blending after each ingredient. (You can use a sweetener of your choice and adjust for your own tastes. I like the subtle hint of maple in the ice cream drops.)

Once all is mixed in, beat the mixture until it is the consistency of whipped cream. It should have peaks and hold a shape.

Once whipped, you can put the mixture into molds to make fun shapes or spoon or pipe the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I have found that spooning the mixture can be messy and difficult to get bite sized drops, especially if you are making for kids.

If you don’t have a piping bag, just take a plastic food storage bag, fill it with the mixture, and then cut the end of one corner off. The bigger the hole, the bigger the “drop” will be, so keep in mind what size you want them to be.

Put the baking sheet into the freezer for at least 2 hours. The ice cream drops can then be served as a frozen treat or put into a container and stored in the freezer for up to a week.

These protein ice cream drops melt in your mouth with a satisfying, creamy consistency. These NEVER last a week at my house. We might end up eating them the next day. Once the container is opened, it will be emptied.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and getting more protein into your family’s diet.
